Cathcart Street Reconstruction

Scope of the Project

This project consists of the reconstruction of Cathcart Street, from Cunningham Avenue to Head Street in the community of Ridgetown.

Cathcart Street was identified in the Ridgetown Stormwater Master Plan as a priority project to address localized flooding concerns. The study recommended increasing the diameter of the storm sewer, and installing curb and gutter and additional catch basins at trapped low points to help retain stormwater within the road right-of-way. In addition, there is a need to replace the existing infrastructure due to condition and age.

Specifically, the project includes:

  • Installing a new sanitary sewer and service connections to the property line;
  • Installing a new storm sewer system and catch basins;
  • Installing new private stormwater drain connections to the property line at each property;
  • Replacing the existing watermain, service connections, and appurtenances;
  • Reconstruction of the existing asphalt road to meet current Chatham-Kent Development Standards;
  • Replacement of driveway approaches within municipal boulevards with concrete;
  • Boulevard grading and restoration;
  • Replace and extend concrete sidewalks to Municipal and Provincial Standards; and
  • Installing new concrete curb and gutter.

Construction is anticipated to form part of the 2024 construction season.
