    Free volunteer driving lessons

Many want to be able to start the process of getting a driver's license but they don't know someone who drivers or already owns a car to help them practice. Many like me can barely even afford groceries on top of rent, so they don't have the extra funding to pay for expensive driving schools to get experience to get G1-G2-G. It would be wonderful if the Civic Centre or somewhere else opened up a sign up for low income people where they will have time slots you can choose from to drive in a provided vehicle with a volunteer driving instructor and after the lesson is done the volunteer takes the car back to go teach the next person. And once enough lessons have accumulated there can be a request to be put in where you can borrow the car for the day you need to take your G2, G, etc tests with a volunteer with you on the way to the test and back to the civic centre so there is no car theft that ruins it for the next person. This opens up more opportunities to people, either in abusive situations who need to learn to get free some day, or for future job opportunities as many jobs require a license or a solid way to get there that isn't just a bus.

    Accessing more information re PHB

Now that all the attention and financial influx on cash is coming to help the homeless, and the fire victims, maybe you can focus on the other elephant in the room, Portable Housing Benefit. This is a benefit that is the hardest to receive , least understood and hardest to get information. Dealing with gathering information on the program was a nightmare. Transparency is the practice of being open and accountable. It took weeks of constant questioning to even find out my place in the waiting list. I would like to know: - [ ] what % of income from government is allocated to the PHB. - [ ] How often is the waiting list updated Ombudsman received the following complaint the most … - [ ] Many were about long delays and waitlists to apply for social housing, and we helped connect these people with senior housing officials for updates and policy information. And no I haven’t had any update, or policy information, or any communication as to if my circumstances have changed, even though this is a requirement for the CK housing to address , keeping the wait list up to date every 3 to 6 months? My latest inquiry into updating PHB await list said it was up to the Municipality to set the time limit . My situation , according to the housing dept is not dire , therefore , not important. I would like an update on the PHB Situation in CK Where I now sit in the ‘list’ What the future policy will include more funding for PHB

Governments represent 99% tax payers safety, not only the 1% of homeless addicts who defecate, steal, break into and threaten civic order.

Quit raising our property taxes. You are now driving people out of Chatham instead of bringing people here.

It is time we get rid of some of our counsellors that just keep on wasting our money on useless projects that are not necessary. Have they ever thought about reducing our taxes.

Quit wasting tax payers money on things like renovating the sears building.

In my opinion, the money is just going to go into politicians (and their friends') pockets.
