Mayor's Heritage Awards

The Municipal Heritage Committee is excited to re-launch the Mayor's Heritage Awards* Program!

As in past years, the Mayor's Heritage Awards aims to recognize excellence in local built heritage preservation and restoration efforts. Except this year the awards are bigger and better than ever before! Mark your Calendar - It's all happening on February 21, 2026.

Award nominations are being accepted for 6 award categories:

  1. Residential Preservation and Restoration Award
    • This award recognizes exceptional efforts to preserve and restore heritage homes to an original or historically accurate state
  2. Industrial and Commercial Award
    • This award recognizes exceptional efforts to preserve and restore heritage commercial buildings (i.e. downtown buildings) and heritage industrial buildings (i.e. factories, warehouses, mills, etc.)
  3. Rural and Agricultural Award
    • This award recognizes exceptional efforts to preserve and restore rural and agricultural heritage buildings (i.e. farmhouses, barns, shops etc.)
  4. Best Practices / Emerging Practices Award
    • This award recognizes the use of new and innovative processes, materials and techniques to protect and restore heritage buildings
  5. Adaptive Reuse Award
    • This award recognizes exceptional efforts to sensitively alter heritage buildings for a use that is different than what they were initially intended for (i.e. converting an old factory into apartments)
  6. People's Choice Award
    • This award recognizes efforts to preserve and restore heritage buildings that are popular in the community

Award winners will be selected by the Municipal Heritage Committee

**The Mayor's Heritage Awards is exclusively open to privately owned heritage buildings and properties. Publicly owned Buildings and properties are not eligible for awards under this program**
