Lorne Avenue Reconstruction

Scope of the Project

This project consists of the reconstruction of Lorne Avenue, from Elgin Street to Dufferin Avenue, and includes the intersection of Elizabeth Street, in the community of Wallaceburg.

The driver behind the project is the need to replace the existing infrastructure due to condition and age, in addition to upsizing the existing storm sewer as part of upgrades to the neighbourhood stormwater collection and conveyance system which includes a new trunk sewer.

Specifically, the project includes:

  • Installing a new sanitary sewer and service connections to the property line;
  • Installing a new storm sewer system and catch basins;
  • Installing new private stormwater drain connections to the property line at each property;
  • Replacing the existing watermain, service connections, and appurtenances;
  • Reconstruction of the existing asphalt road to meet current Chatham-Kent Development Standards;
  • Replacement of driveway approaches within municipal boulevards with concrete to the sidewalk or to match existing where no sidewalk is present; and,
  • Boulevard grading and restoration.

Construction is anticipated to form part of the 2022 construction season.
