Proposed Renaming of the Wheatley Soccer Field

Consultation has concluded

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has received a renaming application from Christine Hooper to rename the Wheatley Soccer Field to the Michael Laliberte Memorial Soccer Field.

The following rational was provided with the renaming application:

Michael was an active member of the Wheatley Area Minor Soccer Association. The soccer field was his favourite place and being able to play soccer kept him fighting through chemotherapy and pain. Sadly, Michael lost his battle with cancer on July 14, 2020. Renaming the soccer field after Michael would be a way to honour his memory and fighting spirit.
