Public Call for Artists - Heritage and History of Ridgetown
In partnership with the Ridgetown Business Improvement Area, we are looking for an artist or artists to create artwork, which will be displayed on five concrete planter/benches on the main street of Ridgetown. The project theme will centre on capturing the Heritage and History of Ridgetown.
Remuneration:
Artist Fee: $3000 to create art on five planter/benches
Deposit of 25% to be paid upon selection and signed contract; 25% at the halfway mark of the project and remaining 50% to be paid upon receipt of final digital files and signed reproduction agreement.
Artwork to be installed on Main Street in Ridgetown, Ontario
Original designs only; no existing copyrights infringement.
Must be public-friendly, non-commercial, and non-resembling traffic signals/signs.
Designs should deter graffiti; avoid large solid or blank areas.
Proposed artwork can be created in any medium (digital illustration, painting, drawing, photography, etc.) as long as the image can be digitally formatted to the appropriate size and file specifications, be durable and adhere to the planters.
First consideration will be given to artists of Chatham-Kent.
Digital Requirements
Concept representations should be in JPG/JPEG/PDF format at a minimum resolution of 150 dpi.
Final submissions, if selected, should be at a resolution of 300 dpi, scaled to 50% of the actual planter/bench size.

Description of the Artworks: A brief description of the proposed design
Image or Representation of Proposed Artwork:
The proposed artwork does not need to be fully conceived but should demonstrate proof of concept.
Use of AI must be stated and acknowledged.
Past Work: Up to four images of past work, identified with title, date, and medium
Artist Bio: A short bio (200 words max)
Overarching Selection Criteria
Connection (40%) Demonstrate a strong connection to the local CK community, including current and former residents, and artists with a strong connection to the local community.
Proposed Digital Illustration/Concept (40%): Effectively communicate the artist’s unique and original perspective.
Portfolio/Emerging Artist (20%): The submission and samples of past work provide confidence that the artist can successfully carry out or learn to execute the proposed work.
We encourage all artists to submit their strongest proposal for consideration. The deadline for submission is Friday, March 27 at 11:59 PM.
