Southwest Chatham Servicing Study

Consultation has concluded

Background

The Municipality of Chatham Kent (Chatham-Kent), through its consultant AECOM has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Master Plan study to develop a strategy for sanitary, stormwater and water servicing of the southwest area of Chatham (refer to Figure 1 Study Area). The MCEA study will address present issues, short term servicing solutions, intermediate servincing requirements and future growth needs.

The study is being undertaken by AECOM and will document existing conditions, engage key stakeholders and the general public and review potential alternative solutions.

Process

The MCEA study will be completed in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and will follow Approach #1 of the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class EA (as amended in 2015) process. At the conclusion of the study, a suite of recommended, water, wastewater and stormwater projcets will be identified including the MCEA Schedule (Schedule A, A+,B or C) for each project in the study area. This Master Plan will be completed at a broad level of assessment, therefore requiring more detailed investigations at the project specific level for any recommended Schedule B and C projects.

We would like to hear from you

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent wants anyone with an interest in the study to have an opportunity to provide input, which will help the project team in the decision-making process.

One Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held to provide information and receive feedback. The PIC is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2022 and will present an overview of the study including existing conditions, potential servicing strategies, the preliminary recommended projects and the next steps in the study.
