I would like to see a Costco come to Chatham. I don't drive so going to Windsor or London to a Costco would be very expensive. I do think it would do well here.

Did you know there is NO ASL classes offered in Chatham-Kent? Unless you can drive, and are willing to travel an hour or more away, there's no way for the deaf/Deaf/HoH to learn what should be what is 'english' to a hearing person... Most businesses (and schools!) in Chatham-Kent only have phone-contacts and lack online contact options. Ontario in general is has really dropped the ball when it comes to the deaf (did you know ODSP won't cover deaf smoke alarms even for recipients on ODSP, who are than expected to pay upward of $1,000 for fire safety measures that all hearing people can buy for a measly $10!), but Chatham-Kent could become a deaf/Deaf/HoH friendly city with such minor changes and tweaks. It could lead the way in accessibility for a group of people who are being left behind. -ASL class return to CK -Encourage local businesses to have an email address (thats regularly checked), live chat or a cell that's text-available for sales/tech support for the deaf/Deaf/HoH -Encourage local schools to have an email address (thats regularly checked) for attendance/school communications for the deaf/Deaf/HoH -Create and show support for a deaf/Deaf/HoH community space be that in an online format, structure, or event. -Host voluntary series for local businesses on how to make their business more 'deaf/Deaf/HoH friendly -Have a spot (perhaps in that 'deaf/Deaf/HoH community space) that features all 'deaf/Deaf/HoH friendly businesses, so we know where we can go that can accommodate us. There are several ways to not only show support for the Deaf/deaf/HoH in Chatham-Kent, but to make them feel like Chatham-Kent doesn't just see them, but embraces them, and is willing to work to accommodate them. Let Chatham-Kent be the place where the Deaf don't have to change to fit into the Hearing world, but rather where CK is willing to change so that the Deaf too feel right at home here.

We need more activities for people to do (not just youth). VR arcades for people who can't afford a VR system would be great and fun.
