The DEIJ team has put together a guide on why it is important to be inclusive in our holiday celebrations, along with helpful tips.
Download and/or print the guide from Important Documents and share it with your teams and colleagues.

Bystander Intervention Training: Practical Anti-Racism Tools
Here's a chance to learn practical ways to respond to racist incidents as well as build de-escalation and active listening skills.
This two-part training is for individuals of all ages who want to move beyond silence and be active upstanders when they see instances of racism or discrimination.
The training includes Bystander 1 and 2, which must be taken consecutively to complete the core training.
Register for Bystander 1 on Thursday, December 1, 6-8:30pm and learn:
- how to recognize and respond to racist incidents
- the history and practices of Bystander Intervention
- strategies to interrupt racism in different contexts and spaces

We’re looking forward to sharing where we’re at in the Municipal DEIJ Strategy development, what we’ve learned through our information gathering, and answering your questions.

In partnership with the St. Clair Student Representative Council (SRC), Indigenous Student Services presents Treaties Recognition Week: Wampum Belts with Elder Garry Sault.
Through symbolism and interpretation, wampum belts were made by various groups as a visual way to help tell stories, and convey and recall significant historical events and messages, including treaties. Additionally, wampum belts signified the oral agreements between Indigenous peoples and the Crown.

Community Forum on Homelessness in CK
You're invited to participate in an interactive community forum to continue the dialogue around homelessness in Chatham-Kent, Ontario. This event is led by Dr. Cheryl Forchuk from Lawson Health Research Institute and Western University.
The purpose of this forum is to share findings from our national Homelessness Counts study and provide an opportunity for the community to give feedback on our results.
There will be small group discussions in the form of breakout groups at each table to collaboratively bring forward what solutions been successful during COVID-19 and what still needs to be addressed.

Free course on Francophones and Cultural and Linguistic Sensitive Care
This training is built for healthcare but is relevant for anyone working with public.
The learning program is built to encourage self-reflection on how one’s behavior is influenced by culture, bias, stereotypes and power, which in turn impacts service provision It is approximately six hours in length and can be taken at the pace most comfortable for you.
Modules include:
· Module 1 – Understanding of Culture and Linguistic Sensitive Care (not specific to Francophones)
