  • Bystander Intervention Training: Practical Anti-Racism Tools

    Here's a chance to learn practical ways to respond to racist incidents as well as build de-escalation and active listening skills.

    This two-part training is for individuals of all ages who want to move beyond silence and be active upstanders when they see instances of racism or discrimination.

    The training includes Bystander 1 and 2, which must be taken consecutively to complete the core training.

    Register for Bystander 1 on Thursday, December 1, 6-8:30pm and learn:

    • how to recognize and respond to racist incidents
    • the history and practices of Bystander Intervention
    • strategies to interrupt racism in different contexts and spaces

    In honour of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Rick Hansen Foundation is hosting a live discussion on ‘The Power of Inclusive Allyship’ with allies, advocates, and people with lived experience.

    Please join us for what promises to be an engaging discussion about the importance of allyship and how you can be an ally for people with disabilities.

    Panelists will discuss:

    • the definition of allyship and its importance,
    • what allyship means from a personal perspective, and
    • tangible actions we can take to become better allies with the disability community.

    You're invited to participate in an interactive community forum to continue the dialogue around homelessness in Chatham-Kent, Ontario. This event is led by Dr. Cheryl Forchuk from Lawson Health Research Institute and Western University.

    • Discussions will be audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim by trained research assistants and notes from table discussions will be collected.
    • Please note that this forum may transition to a virtual format in the event of COVID-19 outbreaks or other environmental considerations. Zoom webinar link will be emailed to registrants.

  • CK Tourism Looking for Community Models - Many Faces of Tourism DEI Photo Project December 2022

    CK Tourism is looking for community models that would be willing to participate in a Many Faces of Tourism Photo Shoot on Sat. Dec. 10th.

    For our last shoot of 2022, we are looking for multi-generational families willing to come out and have some fun in front of the camera as we capture some of CK’s winter and holiday activities and events.

    No previous modelling experience is required! We are looking for models that haven’t participated in past photo shoots so that we can capture more of the Many Faces of CK 😊

    CK Tourism is looking for community models that would be willing to participate in a Many Faces of Tourism Photo Shoot on Sat. Dec. 10th.

  • Josiah Henson Museum of African-Canadian Heritage Gets National Recognition

    Congratulations to The Ontario Heritage Trust, which operates the Josiah Henson Museum of African-Canadian History. The site recently received the National Trust for Canada Governors’ Award for their move to raise awareness about the life and contributions of Josiah Henson.
