Inter-County Baseball Team Re-Naming
over 1 year agoYou’re likely seeing/hearing a lot about the re-naming of the Inter-County Baseball League. I want to unpack this a bit and put out a few things to consider about this and for our own work too:
After a Mis-Step: Apologize and do better.
This is a great example of what to do when something is brought to our attention related to DEIJ. We all have more to learn. And, we all make mis-steps. This is a good example where folks are acknowledging the mistake, committing to doing better, and moving on. This is generally the approach to take. Remember, the... Continue reading

Article: CK Part of National Immigration Wave
over 1 year agoLike most of Canada, immigration is driving the growth in our population in Chatham-Kent.
Data from the 2021 census – Canada’s most recent – shows immigration is helping drive a population increase in the municipality...
According to Audrey Ansell, Director of Community Attraction and Promotion: Chatham-Kent’s overall population is just short of 104,000, of that 9.1 per cent are immigrants – foreign born. That’s up from 8.7 per cent.”
The most recent census data, released in late October, showed 845 people settled in Chatham-Kent during that four-year period who were born in another country.

Webinar: Driving DEI in the Workplace
over 1 year agoOver the past several years, society has taken great steps to address some of our historic inequities in business and beyond. Efforts to expand the diversity of boards of directors, executive teams, and senior leadership across industries have been imperative. How has this challenge been met? What are the obstacles to success, and how do we overcome them? How do we ensure diverse boards are, in fact, inclusive?
Join Canadian Club Toronto on January 26 for a virtual discussion on what practices are working now and where do we still need to lean in to take DEI forward? Our expert... Continue reading

Webinar: What is diversity and why does it matter?
over 1 year agoLower turnover, and higher employee engagement and loyalty: these are just a few of the benefits of a more diverse workforce. An organizational commitment to diversity can help businesses address labour market shortages, access talent and markets, comply with regulations and drive innovation. There are also new opportunities to access resources and supports through initiatives such as the 50 — 30 Challenge.
But what, exactly, is meant by equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI)? And how can small and medium-sized enterprises achieve them?
The Ontario Chamber of Commerce invites you to join Dr. Wendy Cukier, founder and academic director of the... Continue reading
